Forged from the tradition of farming
Nestled into the wooded tree line of a working farm, the farm manager’s office emphasizes authentic craftsmanship for a space focused on solitude and retreat.
Clad in dark hues and natural materials, the building is influenced by the building techniques born from the tradition of farming and a Midwest agrarian aesthetic. Its exposed structure with rough-hewn timbers, stone base and fireplace, and cedar shingled roof with copper gutters are central to its character.
The raw materials and simple palette are essential to its sense of place.
The natural lighting and materiality are reinforced with wood floors, white-painted lap paneling, and exposed wood beams with accented metal ties for a cozy setting that allows the views of the outdoor landscape to take center stage through the oversized windows.
