The AC Hotel Dayton serves as a centerpiece in Dayton’s revitalization efforts, contributing to the vibrant Water Street District. Designed to attract a younger demographic of business travelers seeking a casual yet elevated experience, the hotel stands as a symbol of Dayton’s industrial past while seamlessly incorporating modern design elements.
Strategically located next to a warehouse redevelopment with future parking or apartment opportunities, the hotel’s design maximizes key count while complementing the larger context of the district. The exterior features faceted panels reflecting the industrial style, changing color with the sky’s interaction to create a thoughtful gradation. The intentional reflectivity showcases a dynamic and visually engaging facade, with exterior lighting strategically incorporated to attract visitors during game days and draw them into the hotel.

In recent years, the City of Dayton has been investing in the revitalization of its downtown and becoming a destination for residents and visitors through redevelopment and urban parks. Our work on the AC Hotel Dayton and The Monument Apartments has supported this goal.
AC Hotel Dayton's bar and lounge combines a refined industrial aesthetic with modern design elements.
Internally, the hotel embraces Dayton’s rich history with a refined industrial aesthetic infused with modern design elements. The interior material palette, featuring rich wood tones, deep grays, and warm bronze, pays homage to the area’s industrial heritage. The standout design feature, a reception area with backlit acrylic panels representing Dayton’s five converging rivers, serves as a starting point for guests to navigate the hotel.
We extend our gratitude to AIA Dayton for this distinguished recognition and commend the team involved in making the AC Hotel Dayton a remarkable success. This Merit Award reflects our commitment to delivering architectural excellence and innovative design solutions that contribute to the ongoing transformation of Dayton’s urban landscape.
