Woodland Hall
Modern farmhouse rooted in context.
Set within a serene 200-acre horse pasture, this residence offers a modern living space inside an architectural framework reminiscent of its surroundings.

The architectural framework and materials draw heavily from the surrounding rolling pastures and the classic Midwestern homes that populate them, with exposed timber and stone, vertical siding, a steeply pitched roof and, of course, a front porch.
The home is split into three sections, resembling a farmhouse that has been expanded through the generations. Quality craftsmanship is on display both inside and out, blending old and new into a comfortable modernism. The result is a timeless home for gathering and family engagement.

Our focus throughout the design was to highlight the surrounding farmland however we could.

The home bends to capitalize on views of the pasture, with all bedrooms and gathering spaces oriented in such a way that they overlook it. Other details include ridge skylights that harness southern sunlight, a geothermal system, structural insulated panels and reclaimed materials that are used as design features. Combined, these aspects create a sense of harmonious living and a meaningful connection to the land.
