This residence is situated along the extraordinary ridge-top of the 11-acre site, celebrating its wooded and serene surroundings. Vast landscape vistas serve to allow the home to shape a focus on its tranquil setting and serves as a retreat for the active young family. The site has rolling topography, a forest of mature oak trees, and a gentle creek carving the ridgeline in an elegant path; this path and the natural terrain shape the architecture’s planning.

As a simple, uncomplicated building, the home follows the sloping site with indigenous rock wall formations and shelter the house and pool. Several timber-framed shed roof planes gently rise from the supporting stone planar walls, lightly capped by naturally weathered metal roofing over redwood-clad volumes. The interior spaces mingle to allow a spacious yet defined interior setting, ideal for the homeowner’s collection of art and imagery. Expansive windows provide natural lighting throughout the house, while a broad overhang softens the interior and exterior edge.
